2.4 GHz wireless technology 

2.4 GHz is a ground breaking wireless technology in hearing aids, primarily because of its transmission distance (see graph below). The hearing aids – not the intermediary streaming device – become the center of the wireless system. 

 

 

Eliminating the intermediate device gives several benefits, the most important being:
  •  Freedom from stigma
  • A simpler connection process
  • A more robust system
  • Possibility of one-to-many connections

ReSound's own technology 

Bluetooth, an open standard for 2.4 GHz and a commonly used technology in traditional induction technology (NFMI), often introduces a delay resulting in echoes and lip synch issues.

ReSound developed our own proprietary technology to eliminate latency and reduce power consumption in sound transmission. 

A final important benefit we can offer by using alternatives to NFMI and Bluetooth streaming is a one-to-many relationship between the audio source and hearing aid.

For example, a married couple can share the same streaming device, or a hearing aid user can connect to several streaming devices

Robust wireless connections 

Our wireless connection is extremely robust. We send very short data packets and utilize frequency hopping to ensure that the sound signals are completely transmitted.
